Abundant Life Church

What To Expect

My name is George Powell and I'm the Sr. Pastor here at Abundant Life Church. I want to personally thank you for stopping by our website. We know a lot of people check out a church on-line well before they attend a service – so we want to welcome you and encourage you take a look around.

Probably one of the first things you'll notice on our site is that we are one church in three locations. We have a Happy Valley Campus on SE 172nd between Foster Road and Sunnyside Road, our Sandy Campus just off Highway 26 as you enter the city of Sandy on Champion Way near the Sandy Cinema, and our Vancouver Campus meeting at the Firstenburg Community Center at 700 NE 136th Ave. in Vancouver, Washington. Although each of our campuses have a unique feel to them, they also share a lot in common. Our hope is that you find a location that is close and convenient to you and you can check us out in person. Service times and locations are found under each of the campus tabs.

The other tab you'll notice is labeled "The Basics." It's here you'll discover a variety of choices that will help you begin your journey of discovering what Abundant Life Church is all about.

If I were to summarize it, I'd want you to know that we have a simple but powerful mission: "To reach as many people as possible for Jesus Christ – Loving God, Loving People and Loving Life."

What does that mean?

Jesus summarized all of the commandments into two, and He said the first and most important one is to love God. "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength." (Mark 12:30) This means to honor God in every area of our lives.

Jesus said the second most important commandment was loving people. In Mark 12:31 he said "...Love your neighbor as yourself." We best express love for people as we serve them through ministry and share with them the Good News about Jesus. We express love with our actions and with our words.

Finally, the Christian life is all about relationships. Loving God and loving people are the two foundational principles upon which everything else is built and it is the key to the third part of our mission statement - loving life. Jesus said, "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life and have it to the full." (John 10:10) "To the full" means to bring something to full realization. Loving life is the natural result of loving God and loving people. This is a life-long process of growing in Christ and understanding the principles found in His Word for living life.

To simplify things even further, we're about 3 basic things:

  • Worship…Loving God
  • Serving one another and sharing our story with others…Loving People
  • Growing into the person God desires us to be…Loving Life

On behalf of all of us here at Abundant Life Church, thanks again for stopping by our website. If you've not done so already, we'd be honored to have you visit us at one of our campuses real soon! Thanks!
